Post-Publication Discussion
JAFOTIK (Jurnal Sistem Informasi dan Teknik Informatika) encourages scholarly discussion and constructive academic engagement with articles published in the journal. The journal recognizes that post-publication discussion is an important part of the scientific process, as it enables researchers, authors, and readers to clarify findings, exchange perspectives, identify potential errors, and contribute to the continuous improvement of scientific knowledge.
JAFOTIK provides opportunities for readers and researchers to raise questions, submit comments, and communicate concerns regarding published articles. All post-publication discussions must be conducted professionally, objectively, and respectfully, with the primary aim of improving scientific understanding and maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.
The post-publication discussion policy is governed by the following principles:
1. Submission of Comments and Scholarly Discussions
Readers and researchers may submit comments, questions, critiques, or scholarly responses concerning articles published in JAFOTIK. Submissions should be evidence-based, relevant to the article under discussion, and focused on its research methods, data interpretation, findings, conclusions, or scientific contribution. Personal attacks, defamatory statements, unsupported allegations, and comments unrelated to the scholarly content will not be considered for publication.
2. Editorial Assessment
All submissions intended for publication as post-publication discussions are subject to editorial assessment. The Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editor evaluates their relevance, academic merit, factual basis, originality, ethical appropriateness, and compliance with the journal's editorial policies. When necessary, the journal may consult independent experts or the authors of the original article to assess the issues raised.
3. Author's Right to Respond
When a published article is the subject of a substantive scholarly comment or criticism, the original authors may be invited to provide a response. The journal aims to ensure a fair opportunity for authors to clarify their methods, explain their findings, address criticisms, and correct misunderstandings. The comment and response may be published together or linked to the original article to facilitate balanced and transparent scholarly discussion.
4. Publication of Post-Publication Discussions
Accepted comments, letters to the editor, or scholarly responses may be published as separate contributions or in another appropriate format determined by the editorial team. Such publications will be subject to the journal's applicable editorial standards, peer-review procedures where appropriate, ethical requirements, and publication policies.
5. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
If a post-publication discussion identifies a potential error, research-integrity concern, or other issue that may affect the reliability of a published article, JAFOTIK will assess the matter carefully and impartially. Depending on the nature and severity of the concern, the journal may publish a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction in accordance with recognized publication-ethics principles and the journal's publication-ethics policy. Authors may be contacted and given an appropriate opportunity to respond. Editorial actions will be based on the available evidence and will aim to preserve the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
6. Ethical Conduct and Confidentiality
All participants in post-publication discussions are expected to act in good faith, provide accurate information, respect intellectual property rights, and disclose relevant conflicts of interest. The journal will handle submissions and allegations confidentially where appropriate and will take reasonable steps to protect individuals from unnecessary disclosure while ensuring a fair and transparent assessment.
7. Editorial Independence and Final Decisions
The Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editorial decision-maker is responsible for decisions concerning the acceptance, revision, publication, or rejection of post-publication discussions. Decisions will be based on scholarly relevance, evidential support, ethical considerations, and the journal's editorial policies, rather than personal, institutional, or commercial interests.
