Digital Preservation and Archiving Policy

JAFOTIK (Jurnal Sistem Informasi dan Teknik Informatika), published by Lentera Ilmu Publisher, is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of its published scholarly content. The journal recognizes that reliable digital preservation is essential to maintaining the scholarly record and ensuring that published articles remain available to researchers, academics, institutions, and the wider public.

To support this commitment, JAFOTIK utilizes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to facilitate distributed digital archiving among participating libraries. The LOCKSS system enables participating institutions to collect, preserve, and maintain copies of journal content, helping protect published materials against data loss, technical failures, or interruptions affecting the journal's website.

Objectives of the Archive Policy

The objectives of this policy are to:

  1. Preserve the journal's published articles and associated scholarly content for long-term access.

  2. Reduce the risk of permanent content loss resulting from technical failures, website disruptions, or other unforeseen circumstances.

  3. Support the recovery and restoration of archived content when the journal's primary website becomes unavailable.

  4. Maintain the integrity, authenticity, and completeness of the scholarly record.

  5. Promote the continued accessibility of JAFOTIK's publications for future researchers and readers.

Archiving and Preservation Mechanism

JAFOTIK uses the LOCKSS system as part of its digital preservation strategy. Through this system, participating libraries can maintain distributed archival copies of eligible journal content and support its preservation and restoration when necessary.

The journal's digital preservation activities are intended to protect published scholarly materials, including article files and associated publication metadata, to the extent supported by the archiving system and the journal's technical configuration.

Access and Restoration

JAFOTIK aims to maintain continuous online access to its published content through its official journal website. If the primary website or its content becomes unavailable because of technical problems, data loss, or other disruptions, preserved archival copies may help facilitate the recovery and restoration of the affected materials through the LOCKSS system, subject to system availability and the participation of relevant institutions.

The journal will make reasonable efforts to restore access to affected content and maintain the continuity of its scholarly publication record.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

Lentera Ilmu Publisher is responsible for supporting the journal's digital preservation efforts by maintaining the journal's online publication platform, managing published content, and taking reasonable measures to protect the integrity and availability of its digital publications.

The publisher will seek to maintain appropriate technical and administrative practices for digital content management and preservation, subject to available infrastructure and the capabilities of the systems used.

Policy Review and Updates

This Archive Policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect changes in digital preservation standards, archiving technologies, publisher practices, and the journal's technical infrastructure. Any material changes will be reflected in the policy published on the JAFOTIK website.
