Jurnal Sistem Informasi dan Teknik Informatika (JAFOTIK) is committed to promoting the broad dissemination of scientific knowledge through open access while respecting copyright ownership, author rights, and the principles of publication ethics.

By submitting a manuscript to JAFOTIK, authors acknowledge and agree to the terms of this Copyright and License Policy. Submission constitutes acceptance of these terms, subject to the journal's applicable publication procedures. A separate signed copyright transfer agreement is not required unless otherwise specified by the journal.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright and other applicable intellectual property rights to their published articles. Submission and publication in JAFOTIK do not constitute a transfer of copyright ownership to the journal or its publisher.

By publishing with JAFOTIK, authors grant the journal and its publisher a non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, preserve, and make the article publicly available in electronic and other appropriate formats as part of the journal's scholarly publishing activities.

Authors retain the right to reuse, share, distribute, and republish their work, subject to the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license and the requirement to acknowledge the article's original publication in JAFOTIK.

2. License Terms

Articles published in JAFOTIK are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Under this license, users may copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the published material for any purpose, including commercial purposes, provided that they comply with the following conditions:

  • Attribution (BY): Users must give appropriate credit to the original author(s), provide a reference or link to the original publication in JAFOTIK, include a link to the applicable license, and indicate whether changes have been made.

  • ShareAlike (SA): If users remix, transform, or build upon the material, they must distribute their contributions under the same license as the original material or a compatible license permitted by CC BY-SA 4.0.

  • No additional restrictions: Users may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from exercising the rights granted by the license.

The license applies to material covered by the article's copyright and may not automatically apply to third-party content, trademarks, personal data, or other material subject to separate rights or restrictions.

3. Author Warranties and Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript to JAFOTIK, the author(s) represent and warrant that:

  1. The manuscript is original and has been prepared by the stated author(s), except for contributions that are appropriately acknowledged and disclosed.

  2. The manuscript has not been published previously in a form that would constitute duplicate publication and is not under consideration for publication by another journal or publisher, except where prior dissemination has been disclosed and is permitted under the journal's policies.

  3. The manuscript does not knowingly contain unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, or misleading statements and does not infringe the copyright, privacy, confidentiality, or other legal rights of third parties.

  4. All third-party materials, including figures, tables, images, datasets, software, and substantial excerpts, have been appropriately attributed, and any required permissions or licenses have been obtained before publication.

  5. All authors have made qualifying contributions to the work, have approved the submitted and final versions, and have agreed to its submission and publication in JAFOTIK.

  6. All relevant funding sources, conflicts of interest, research ethics approvals, and other required declarations have been disclosed accurately.

  7. Any use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools complies with JAFOTIK's applicable policies, and the authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and reliability of the manuscript.

Authors must promptly inform the editorial team if they discover a significant error, omission, rights issue, or ethical concern relating to their submitted or published article.

4. Rights of Readers and Other Users

JAFOTIK supports open access to scholarly research and makes its published articles available to readers without subscription fees, subject to the journal's access arrangements.

Under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, and reuse licensed articles, including for commercial purposes, provided that the applicable attribution and ShareAlike conditions are fulfilled.

Users must acknowledge the original author(s), cite the article's publication in JAFOTIK, identify the applicable license, and indicate whether modifications have been made. Reuse of third-party material remains subject to the rights and conditions applicable to that material.

Open access does not mean that an article is in the public domain or that copyright and attribution requirements no longer apply.

5. Authors' Rights and Self-Archiving

Authors retain the right to use and disseminate their published work in accordance with the applicable license. These rights include, but are not limited to:

  • Reproducing and distributing the article for teaching, research, and other lawful purposes.

  • Incorporating the article's content into future works, including books, lectures, teaching materials, and scholarly publications.

  • Depositing and sharing the published version in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, and other appropriate scholarly platforms.

  • Sharing the article with colleagues, students, research collaborators, and the wider academic community.

  • Entering into additional non-exclusive arrangements for the distribution or reuse of the article, provided that such arrangements do not conflict with the rights already granted under the Creative Commons license.

  • Reusing their research findings and other material from the article in subsequent scholarly work, subject to applicable intellectual property rights and the terms of the license.

When redistributing or republishing an article, authors must acknowledge its original publication in JAFOTIK and provide the appropriate citation and license information. Authors should also ensure that any third-party material is handled in accordance with its applicable permissions and license terms.

6. Co-Authorship and Authorization

For manuscripts written by multiple authors, the corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the submission and agree to the terms of this policy.

The corresponding author must ensure that all authors are correctly identified and that their contributions are represented accurately. Any changes to the author list or order of authors after submission must comply with JAFOTIK's authorship and publication ethics policies.

All authors remain responsible for the integrity of the work and for resolving questions concerning their respective contributions. JAFOTIK will handle authorship disputes in accordance with its editorial procedures and applicable publication ethics guidance. Where appropriate, the journal may request clarification or refer the matter to the relevant affiliated institution.

7. Royalties and Publication Fees

JAFOTIK is an open-access journal. Authors do not receive royalties or other payments from the journal for the publication, distribution, or reuse of their articles.

Readers may access published articles without subscription fees, subject to the journal's open-access arrangements. Any article processing charges (APCs), submission fees, or other publication-related fees, if applicable, are governed by JAFOTIK's separately published fee policy.

The absence of royalties does not affect authors' copyright ownership or their rights under the applicable Creative Commons license.

8. Editorial Changes and Publication

JAFOTIK reserves the right to make editorial revisions to accepted manuscripts to improve clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, formatting, references, and consistency with the journal's style requirements, provided that such changes do not improperly alter the scientific meaning or conclusions of the work.

Substantive changes that may affect the interpretation, validity, or scientific content of an article will be referred to the authors for review and approval where appropriate.

The journal publishes accepted articles electronically and makes them available to readers in accordance with its open-access policy and the applicable license. Publication is subject to the completion of the journal's editorial, peer-review, ethical, and production procedures.

9. Third-Party Materials and Permissions

Authors are responsible for identifying material in their manuscripts that is owned by third parties or subject to separate licensing conditions.

Where permission is required, authors must obtain written authorization from the relevant rights holder before publication and comply with any applicable attribution, acknowledgment, or licensing requirements.

The CC BY-SA 4.0 license applied to a JAFOTIK article does not automatically grant permission to reuse third-party content that is excluded from the article's license. Any such exclusions or separate rights notices should be clearly identified in the published article.

10. Copyright Infringement and Ethical Concerns

JAFOTIK takes allegations of copyright infringement, plagiarism, unauthorized use of material, and other publication ethics violations seriously.

If a concern is raised, the journal may request supporting documentation, contact the relevant authors or rights holders, and conduct an assessment in accordance with its editorial and publication ethics procedures.

Where justified, the journal may take appropriate corrective action, including issuing a correction, publishing an expression of concern, retracting an article, or removing or restricting access to material where legally required. Any action will be proportionate to the circumstances and consistent with applicable publication ethics standards.

11. Policy Updates

JAFOTIK may revise this policy when necessary to reflect changes in publishing practices, copyright law, open-access standards, or publication ethics requirements. Updated terms will be published on the journal's official website and will apply in accordance with the stated effective date and any applicable transitional arrangements.
