Manuscript Types
The Journal of Computer Science Application and Engineering (JOSAPEN) welcomes original and high-quality scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of computer science, information technology, engineering, and related interdisciplinary fields. The journal accepts manuscripts that demonstrate scientific rigor, methodological soundness, originality, and practical or theoretical significance.
Authors are required to select the appropriate manuscript type during submission. Each submission must comply with the journal's author guidelines, publication ethics policies, and peer-review procedures.
JOSAPEN accepts the following manuscript types:
1. Research Article
Research Articles present original research findings that contribute new knowledge, methods, models, systems, or practical applications to the fields covered by JOSAPEN. These manuscripts should clearly identify the research problem, objectives, methodology, results, and contributions to existing knowledge.
Topics may include computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, information systems, software engineering, cybersecurity, data science, Internet of Things (IoT), computer networks, information technology applications, electrical engineering, and related areas.
Research Articles should provide sufficient methodological detail to enable readers to understand and, where appropriate, reproduce the research. The conclusions must be supported by the results and analysis presented in the manuscript.
2. Review Article
Review Articles provide a comprehensive and critical examination of existing literature on a relevant research topic. They should synthesize previous findings, identify research trends, compare existing approaches, highlight knowledge gaps, and propose directions for future research.
Review Articles may address emerging technologies, theoretical developments, research methodologies, technological applications, or interdisciplinary topics relevant to the journal's scope.
A review manuscript must go beyond merely summarizing previous publications. It should demonstrate critical analysis, a coherent synthesis of the literature, and a clear contribution to understanding the selected research area.
3. Short Communication
Short Communications present concise reports of significant and timely research findings that can be communicated effectively without the full length of a conventional Research Article.
This manuscript type is suitable for preliminary but meaningful findings, novel observations, focused experimental results, or important technical advances that warrant prompt dissemination.
Short Communications must maintain scientific rigor and provide sufficient information about the research methods, results, and conclusions. Their concise format should not compromise the clarity, validity, or reliability of the reported findings.
4. Technical Note
Technical Notes describe specific technical developments, methodological improvements, implementation techniques, software tools, algorithms, experimental procedures, or engineering solutions that offer practical or scientific value.
This manuscript type is appropriate for focused contributions that may not require the broader scope of a full Research Article but provide useful technical knowledge to researchers, developers, engineers, or practitioners.
Technical Notes should clearly explain the technical problem, the proposed solution or improvement, its implementation, and relevant evaluation or validation. Claims regarding performance or effectiveness should be supported by appropriate evidence.
General Requirements for All Manuscript Types
All manuscripts submitted to JOSAPEN must:
-
Be original, scientifically sound, and relevant to the journal's aims and scope.
-
Present a clear research objective, technical contribution, or scholarly purpose appropriate to the selected manuscript type.
-
Follow the journal's prescribed formatting and submission guidelines.
-
Cite relevant literature accurately and acknowledge the contributions of other researchers.
-
Comply with applicable research ethics, publication ethics, and authorship requirements.
-
Disclose relevant conflicts of interest and the use of artificial intelligence tools in accordance with the journal's applicable policies.
-
Not be published previously or be under consideration for publication elsewhere, except where the journal has explicitly permitted otherwise.
Editorial Assessment
All submissions are subject to an initial editorial assessment to determine their relevance to the journal's scope, compliance with submission requirements, originality, and overall suitability for peer review. Manuscripts considered suitable may proceed to the journal's peer-review process in accordance with its editorial policies.
The Editor-in-Chief or handling editor may recommend an alternative manuscript classification when the submission's content and contribution are more appropriate for another category. Any such reclassification will be handled through the editorial process.
Submission under a particular manuscript type does not guarantee acceptance. Publication decisions are based on the manuscript's quality, originality, methodological rigor, relevance, and the outcomes of the editorial and peer-review processes.
