Archive Policy
1. Policy Statement
The Journal of Computer Science Application and Engineering (JOSAPEN), published by Lentera Ilmu Publisher, is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, authenticity, and integrity of its published scholarly content. The journal recognizes that digital preservation is essential to maintaining the scholarly record and ensuring that published research remains accessible to researchers, academic institutions, libraries, and the wider scientific community.
JOSAPEN aims to preserve its published articles and associated scholarly metadata through appropriate digital archiving practices and, where available, recognized digital preservation services. The journal seeks to reduce the risk of permanent content loss caused by technical failures, accidental deletion, cyber incidents, platform migration, or the discontinuation of its publishing platform.
2. Digital Archiving and Preservation
JOSAPEN supports digital preservation mechanisms designed to maintain the availability and integrity of its published content over time. These mechanisms may include secure backups, preservation copies, repository deposits, and participation in recognized digital archiving networks, subject to the availability and implementation of the relevant services.
The journal's preservation objectives include:
-
Maintaining access to published articles and their bibliographic metadata.
-
Protecting digital files against accidental loss, corruption, or unauthorized alteration.
-
Supporting the recovery and restoration of published content in the event of technical disruption.
-
Preserving the scholarly record when the journal's website or publishing platform becomes temporarily or permanently unavailable.
-
Facilitating continued access to archived content in accordance with applicable copyright and licensing terms.
3. LOCKSS and Distributed Archiving
JOSAPEN recognizes the role of the Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) program in supporting distributed digital preservation. LOCKSS enables participating libraries and institutions to maintain preserved copies of scholarly content and, where supported, restore access when the original source becomes unavailable.
Information about the LOCKSS program is available at: https://www.lockss.org/
Where JOSAPEN content is configured for and included in the LOCKSS program, participating institutions may preserve copies of the journal's content in accordance with the program's technical requirements and applicable policies.
Participation in LOCKSS or any other third-party preservation service will be identified as an active preservation arrangement only when it has been implemented and can be verified. This policy does not, by itself, constitute confirmation that JOSAPEN is currently participating in LOCKSS.
4. Backup and Recovery
The journal aims to maintain appropriate backup and recovery procedures for its publishing platform and digital content. These procedures may include periodic backups of article files, publication metadata, and relevant website data, together with measures to protect backup copies against loss or corruption.
When a technical failure or data-loss incident occurs, the journal and publisher will make reasonable efforts to restore the affected content and resume access as soon as practicable. Recovery measures will depend on the nature of the incident, the availability of preserved copies, and the technical resources available.
5. Preservation of Published Content
JOSAPEN aims to preserve the final published versions of its articles, including relevant bibliographic information, abstracts, author details, publication dates, and digital object identifiers (DOIs), where assigned.
Published content will not ordinarily be removed solely because an author requests its withdrawal after publication. Where a published article requires an update for ethical, legal, or scholarly reasons, JOSAPEN will follow its applicable correction, retraction, and publication-ethics procedures. Retractions and corrections will be documented transparently so that the scholarly record remains reliable.
6. Long-Term Accessibility
JOSAPEN is committed to supporting continued access to its published content for scholarly and educational purposes. The journal seeks to maintain stable article URLs and persistent identifiers, where available, and to preserve sufficient metadata to support discovery and citation.
If the journal's website or publishing platform changes, the publisher will make reasonable efforts to maintain access to previously published content, migrate the content and metadata where feasible, or provide information about alternative access arrangements.
If JOSAPEN ceases publication, the publisher will endeavor to retain or transfer the journal's archived content to an appropriate repository or preservation service, subject to technical feasibility, legal requirements, and available resources.
7. Access to Archived Content
Archived articles remain subject to the copyright, licensing, and access conditions stated for the relevant publication. Digital preservation does not automatically change an article's license or authorize uses that are not permitted by that license.
Where archived content is made available through a repository or preservation service, users must comply with the applicable license and any relevant legal requirements. JOSAPEN aims to preserve access to the published scholarly record while respecting authors' rights and third-party rights.
8. Responsibilities
The Journal and Publisher are responsible for establishing and maintaining appropriate archiving arrangements, reviewing preservation practices, and making reasonable efforts to protect the long-term availability of published content.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts and associated materials comply with the journal's submission, copyright, and publication-ethics requirements.
Libraries and Preservation Services may support the preservation and recovery of journal content where they participate in applicable archiving arrangements and operate under their own technical and policy requirements.
9. Policy Review
JOSAPEN may periodically review and update this policy to reflect changes in digital preservation standards, publishing technology, repository services, and applicable publication-ethics guidance. Any material changes will be reflected on the journal's website.
10. Commitment to Digital Preservation
JOSAPEN recognizes that preserving scholarly content is a shared responsibility of journals, publishers, libraries, and digital preservation services. Through appropriate archiving practices and continued efforts to improve digital preservation, the journal seeks to protect the scholarly record and support the long-term discoverability and accessibility of its published research.
For questions regarding the archiving or availability of published content, readers may contact the JOSAPEN editorial office through the contact information provided on the journal's official website.
