Authorship Criteria

The Journal of Computer Science Application and Engineering (JOSAPEN) is committed to ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability in the assignment of authorship for all submitted and published manuscripts. Authorship must reflect substantial intellectual contributions to the research and responsibility for the integrity of the work.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify as an author of a manuscript submitted to JOSAPEN, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, the development of the methodology, the acquisition of data, or the analysis and interpretation of research findings.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Approve the final version of the manuscript to be submitted for publication and accept responsibility for its content.

  4. Accountability and Integrity: Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any questions concerning the accuracy, validity, or integrity of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All individuals listed as authors must satisfy all four criteria. Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately rather than listed as authors.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

All authors are collectively responsible for the quality, originality, accuracy, and integrity of the submitted manuscript. Authors are expected to:

  • Ensure that the manuscript presents original work and has not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal.

  • Ensure that all sources, data, methods, and ideas obtained from other works are properly cited and acknowledged.

  • Verify that the research findings are accurately reported and supported by the available evidence.

  • Disclose relevant financial and non-financial conflicts of interest.

  • Ensure that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript before submission.

  • Cooperate with the editorial team during the peer-review and publication processes.

  • Promptly notify the editor of any significant errors or inaccuracies identified after submission or publication.

3. Corresponding Author

One author must be designated as the corresponding author during submission. The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office on behalf of all co-authors throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author must ensure that all authorship information is accurate, all co-authors have approved the submitted manuscript, and all required declarations and documentation are provided to the journal. The corresponding author must also facilitate communication among the authors and the editorial team whenever clarification or additional information is required.

4. Author Order and Changes in Authorship

The order of authors must be agreed upon by all authors before the manuscript is submitted. The author list and order should reflect the relative contributions agreed upon by the research team.

Any proposed addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors during the editorial process must be justified in writing and approved by all authors, including any author being added or removed. Requests for changes must be submitted to the editorial office before the manuscript is accepted for publication and may require a completed authorship change form.

Changes to authorship after acceptance will be considered only under exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the editorial team. If a manuscript has already been published, any authorship change will be handled in accordance with the journal's correction procedures and publication ethics policies.

5. Contributions That Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Activities that do not independently justify authorship include obtaining research funding, providing general supervision, offering administrative support, collecting data without substantial intellectual contribution, proofreading, language editing, or providing technical assistance.

Individuals who have made such contributions may be acknowledged in the manuscript, provided their contributions are described accurately and any necessary permission for acknowledgment has been obtained.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence tools, including large language models and AI-assisted writing or image-generation systems, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for scholarly work.

Authors who use AI-assisted tools in preparing their manuscripts must disclose their use to the journal at the time of submission through the cover letter and provide sufficient details about the purpose and extent of such use. Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, validity, proper attribution, and integrity of all content submitted for publication.

The use of AI must comply with JOSAPEN's publication ethics policies. AI tools must not replace the authors' responsibility for verifying research data, interpreting results, or ensuring that all references and claims are accurate.

7. Editorial Review and Authorship Disputes

JOSAPEN reserves the right to request clarification or supporting documentation regarding authorship and individual contributions when necessary. Concerns about inappropriate authorship, ghost authorship, gift authorship, or undisclosed changes in authorship will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and applicable publication ethics guidelines.

Where an authorship dispute cannot be resolved among the authors, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institution or research organization for investigation before proceeding with editorial decisions.

By submitting a manuscript to JOSAPEN, the corresponding author confirms that the author list is accurate, all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria, and all authors have approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission.
